Death of a Legend from Bengal
If someone calls himself the shoe-bearer of the Pious Scholars, is he really so?! Not always. But whomever Allah bestows such fortune, indeed, he is the fortunate one to be so! And what to say about such an individual, who was quite conspicuously a grateful servant of Rahman too!? MashaAllah he was…he is still in our hearts, inshaAllah he will always be…
His is Respected Hameedur Rahman Rahmatullahi Alaihi (He is a Khalifa of Shaikh Muhammadullah Rahmatullahi Alaihi, well known as Hafejji Hujur in the sub-continent, who was a Khalifa of Hakeemul Ummah Shaikh Ashraf Ali Thanvi Rahmatullahi Alaihi)! InshaAllah – a successful and accepted bondsman in the Court of Allah, indeed a shoe bearer of the Pious Scholars! Shaikh liked to introduce himself in this way — “I am a shoe carrier of the Ulama”; we have used the word bearer instead, and thought this word fits much better for such a dignified individual. On one hand, it was his generosity (to use such a title for himself). On the other hand, it has illuminated him much more (mashaAllah). For us, therein lies several lessons to follow!
This is the moment (when such a pious individual passed away) when the following verse comes to mind repeatedly:
يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفْسُ ٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ ٢٧ ٱرْجِعِىٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةًۭ مَّرْضِيَّةًۭ ٢٨ فَٱدْخُلِى فِى عِبَـٰدِى٢٩ وَٱدْخُلِى جَنَّتِى٣٠
Meaning: (As for an obedient man, it will be said to him,) “0 content soul, come back to your Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing. So, enter among My (special) servants. Sura Fajr – 89:27-30
Allah Almighty has discussed about His righteous servants in the Holy Quran. He discussed about the Prophets. He also discussed about their companions. He also discussed people who were neither Prophets nor the blessed companions of Prophets in the world. However, they followed the footsteps of the blessed ones – the Prophets and their companions. Almighty Allah has praised some of them with their name and some without mentioning any names.
It is a great virtue to discuss about pious and noble bondsmen! They are the beloved and special servants of Allah Almighty. Through ages, people become pious by following their footsteps, i.e., the path of Allah, the Deen of Allah Almighty. The knowledge and understanding of religion are spread through them. They are examples of their era. Such individuals enlighten their family, surroundings, companions, friends and subordinates by lighting the beacon of truth, virtuous deeds and righteous words. Their lives are blessed. Their life is filled with good actions. Their thoughts, efforts, pursuits, and prayers are the means of guidance for thousands of people. Through them, the Quran-Sunnah is revived. A chain of righteous actions is established.
They never desire to be famous and well-known. It is the acceptance of Allah Almighty that attracts people towards them. No matter how much people praise them, every time they teach people to praise Allah; they themselves live a life of gratitude – expressing an abundance of appreciation towards Allah Almighty. They are never satisfied with their work. always anxious and busy seeking the pleasure of Allah Almighty. Prayer, recitation, dhikr-fikr (remembrance of Allah and contemplating on facts, Nasiha (giving advice), and supplication are their full-time work. Even during the time of rest, they seem to be diving into the sea of thoughts — how to do something better to please Allah!
..How manifolds of qualities can be assembled in just a single individual’s life, MashaAllah.
ذَٰلِكَ فَضْلُ ٱللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو ٱلْفَضْلِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٤
Meaning: That is Allah’s bounty that He gives to whomsoever He wills, and Allah is the Lord of the great bounty. Sura Jumu’ah – 62:4
Late Shaikh Hameedur Rahman Rahmatullahi Alaihi. Indeed, a blessed man was he! He has left the temporary residence and gone towards his permanent abode! Innalillahi wa inna lillahi raajiyoon. Surely, we belong to Allah, and to Him is our return.
May Allah forgive our beloved and respected Shaikh Hameedur Rahman and grant him a high position in Jannatul Ferdaus (Aameen)! The services rendered by him for Allah’s Deen and his reflections prove how much he could be close and dear to Allah Almighty! It is possible for common people like us to think and say so because the elite Pious Scholars of this era have certified him. We are only testifying to that. Alhamdulillah.
What else can we say!? We also need to increase our efforts to advance on Allah’s path. We should inculcate the love of the Quran and the love of Ulama (the pious scholars) by attaching us with such bondsmen! We should also try to grow the mentality of building up Maktab and Madrasah (Deeni Instituations) with sacrifice and hardship. And try the best to make our children pious and a means of salvation in the Afterlife.
May Allah grant us sincerity! May Allah provide us such good company! And such noble be our objectives! May Allah accept us as Shaker (Praiser of Allah) too! O Allah, make us a sincere lover of the Quran and may we become world-averse! May Allah create in our hearts too, the virtue of loving and respecting the pious scholars, and may we too leave a progeny which becomes means for our salvation. Aameen.
O Allah!! Fill the grave of our Shaikh with light! Aameen Ya Rabbal Alamin.
